Electro-Fenton process, why use DC power? Why not use AC power or pulsed power?

For electrochemistry, why do people just use DC(direct current) power? Why not use AC(alternating current)? I found some researches focusing on pulsed power.

One reason is that for most situations, anode and cathode can not be changed. Any other reasons?

One possible reason is that H2 and O2 was generated simultaneously, which is dangerous.
