I have mouse brains that were flash-frozen in liquid nitrogen immediately following extraction and then stored in a -80 Freezer. These brains haven't been fixed in PFA or formalin...they are just standard whole brains. I would like to cut these brains on a cryostat and perform Iba1/GFAP staining, but I am not sure if improper cryoprotection rendered these brains useless. What can I do with them?

As it was mentioned above -you should not expect good results of the histology if the tissue was not cryoprotected before freezing - you can try (and in fact, you should, in order to be sure), but probably the sections will be full of the freezing artefacts.
