I've got some data on barnacles across a shore line and was after a guide to the appropriate review that discuses the biochemical changes within barnacles during desiccation. Is there one that people could point me towards ?
Thanks Kenneth, I was thinking more about why zonation occurs and is it down to desiccation of the attachment molecules or an effect on the chitin/body of the barnacle.
does anyone have any information on the porosity of the chitin plates ? i imagine the glycoprotein content needs a certain hydration level to maintain its integrity? i was wondering what the limiting factors are in barnacle success after attachment.
