Can you please recommend a good protocol for Silver Nitrate staining for DNA samples run on SDS page gels?

Can you please recommend a good protocol for Silver Nitrate staining for DNA samples run on SDS page gels? We have also tried this with protein samples however we couldn't see any bands. So, the issue should be the siler nitrate staining protocol we followed. We did this manually.
