Using hot spot stress to calculate the stress concentration factor require that 2 gamma which is the chord width to thickness ratio in square hollow sections/ t- joint welds to be greater than 12 and less that 25 in order to verify the results with that provided by design parameter equations. But I want to calculate stress concentration factor in welding with 2 gamma beyond the limit i.e. greater than 25 using hot spot stress. so I wonder if it is acceptable scientifically.
