Is it possible to calculate or find the total time taken by oil to migrate to reservoir? Also what specific time was at that time.
Basically I am asking 2 questions. 1: time take by oil migrated from place (A) which is source/kitchen area to place (B) which is reservoir?
2: At what specific time this migration occurred in geologic time?
Are these possible to find via biomarkers study or any other parameter?

I believe you can.If there are biomarkers in both source as well as reservoir, then :::
An evaluation of the TOC and Type oil in source is necessary. Biomarkers within source will be impregnated with HC.. Biomarkers in the reservoir will hopefully be HC stained as well.. If there is a match in HC typing (source and reservoir) then::::
Based on reservoir parameters esp effective Kh then there are theoretical calc. in the literature which will give you the min. time to move water through from source to reservoir. By knowing the viscosity of the oil then you can calc. a time factor.
This can be done in lab. conditions which will give transit time in a perfect medium since you know visc. temp., as well as reservoir pressure. You also know what effective Kh is.
Then scale this back to match the actual reservoir conditions. This will give a minimum time only. What you cannot know for certain as to the actual time of expulsion based on Tmax.. HOWEVER......
in lab conditions you might be able to simulate oil generation and expulsion to determine the peak time of oil generation..You need to add this value into your HC
transit time. So you can get closer.to actual truth..

You asked several questions, I’ll try to answer your questions separately:
(1) Can V help to find time of migration of oil from source to reservoir?
No, V cannot help. The vanadium/nickel ratio of crude oils appears to decrease with the age of the reservoir. Vanadium compound is less stable than the nickel. Therefore; the ratio of vanadium/nickel can help to determine age relationships.
(2) Can biomarker help to find time of migration of oil from source to reservoir?
Some biomarkers are age indicator such as gammcerane (Lower to Middle Jurassic), olenane (Cretaceous and younger), and the ratio of C27-C28-C29 sterane may be used as well.
Therefore; the occurrence of these biomarkers in crude oils are helpful for indicating the age of crude oils’ source. By comparing the age of crude oils’ source rock with the age of reservoir rock you may obtain the time of primary migration and final destination of oil.
(3) Is there anything else can be used to determine the age?
Carbon isotope fraction content increases occasionally with decreasing age and seem to be not related to source rock type

The core of petroleum system theory also can answer your questions to some extent. If you can determine the critical moment of petroleum system, which is relatively short time period and you know the time of reservoir formation you will find out the prolongation of secondary migration. I would sugest to read "Petroleum system - from source to trap" edited by Magoon and Dow (1994).

Basin analysis technique is the general answer for this question. Then, the common tool is the basin modeling 2D or 3D (that is better). If the question has a pure chemical aspects, then I would recommend to look at S. Larters works. He proposes a direct measurements of oil migration distance (that means time as well) through carbozols evaluation. Some theoretical manipulations with Kph or whatever are hardly to be realistic since you must be sure in sorce rock-reservoir relation, the exact source rocks number involved to the charge, the PVT of all fluids in every rock layer in a carrier beds, carrier beds properties, migration type prevailing etc. In simple basins as Paris basin for example the task is more approchable (look works of Hardly for instance) but in complex ones (fold and thrust belts or some North Sea basins) oil mgration time and distance is a tricky question. The answer will be as more correct as more data you have. Regards.
