Thank you for this question, the absorber layer in solar cells requests an alternative transparent conducting oxide (TCO) window and buffer dual-layers with dissimilar electronic properties (opposite polarities) to provide a thin electronic barrier in between to separate the carriers. n-type buffer layer in thin film solar cell can have a high carrier concentration, but in this case the space charge region becomes narrower in the buffer direction and increases the carriers recombination in absorber/buffer interface, you must calculate the optimal value of carrier concentration and use it.
