I am using the Inverse Pole Figures (with respect to the RD) to correlate the resulting fatigue performance to the initial orientation of specific grains in an AA2024 T3 alloy.

It seems straight forward that some grains lie along 001-101 orientation in the IPF behave like hard grains and do not form strong slip bands and therefore behave like 'hard' grains. Oppositely, grains that lie on the 001-111 orientation - and especially close to the 111 corner - do form strong slip bands during cyclic loading and after a few cycles form fatigue cracks; and are therefore behaving like 'soft' grains.

Is it possible to relate this to the plastic deformation that has occurred during rolling operation upon the production of the alloy?
