I don't think so. Frailty refers to the global state of the patient, which may the result of a dementing disease, thus excluding MCI, but also other medical conditions (e.g. COPD) or chronic treatments, malnutrition, alcoholism, may be enough for explaining MCI and frailty. But certainly, in our patients, associated vascular pathology is very frequent.
In general, vascular factors can aggravate and/or give rise to MCI. As mentioned above, MCI in frailty can occur independently of vascular dysfunction, however, factors such as endothelial dysfunction (present from an early stage) cannot be be entirely ruled out.
