I have been running user subroutines (UMAT) on a workstation installed with Fortran--VS_2008--ABAQUS interfaced. Time has come to run explicit user subroutines (V-UMATs) and every time I try running on this machine, I get an error code "aborted with system error code 1073741819" if I don't print certain lines in the code. Now, a friend of mine using a machine installed with VS_2010 in place of my 2008, does not face this problem. I have tried to upgrade from VS_2008 to VS_2010, I keep getting the error that certain essential components of VS_2010 won't install.Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have tried this method you suggested and it only worked when i tried VS 2008, but when i tried VS 2010, i still have the above error, which comes as a result of missing pre-requisite components.
