To measure the household dietary diversity index I have calculated HDDI, EI, SEI, HI and SI.
Shannon Equaitability Index= Entropy Index/log (n), if n is a very tiny value (0.0000001), log value of n becomes negative thus SEI become a negative value, is it possible? Can SEI value be negative?

Sajith I think you got the wrong formula, SEI = H/log(species)
for any assemblage with more than 1 species, SEI is bounded between 0 an 1, and is never negative

Unfortunately I am involving with dietary intake (kg) not species, thus dietary intake some time become very low (0.007kg) so in this case log value become negative. ?????
