I have Covid infected tissues and have to isolate RNA from them. But I dont have an access to BSL3 or 4 laboratory in my institute. My colleagues are prepared and fixed tissues in Trizol for me. Can I proceed extraction protocol at normal lab level?
Wait, what!? How do have permission to have such samples if you are not at a location with the appropriate BSL! That is not ok!

This needs to be reported to your biosafety supervisor immediately. As in right now.
Well, then you need to consult with your team to figure out who can do these extractions following proper protocols. If you cannot access the room required to work with the samples then you cannot do the extractions. I know RNA extraction is (normally) a routine procedure but you cannot skip COVID sample handling guidelines. You need to follow the safety protocols in place, even if they are inconvenient.

Your sample would have been brought in Viral Transport Medium, from where an aliquot is subjected to RNA extraction. Ideally, in the primary lysis step, the viral cell is ruptured, and further, it would become potentially less dangerous. Hence, BSL is mandatory in the processing and lysis step.
In subsequent steps of extraction, only RNA is left, having the least danger.
Moreover, there can be a carry-over of the virus in the tubes, equipment, and others including unlysed cells. Hence, following appropriate safety measures is recommended.
