im working on investigating epigenetic changes to a presynaptic transmembrane protein that seems to be important in PV neurons. I want to investigate neuron functional difference associated with changes in these proteins. Is there a way to select for parv albumin neurons specifically to then patch clamp and measure their activity?

There are transgenic mice expressing fluorescent proteins in PV cells (Ai9/tdtomato) that can be used to identify cells for patching as well as antibodies (https://www.thermofisher.com/antibody/poduct/Parvalbumin-Antibody-Polyclonal/PA1-933). Check out a new AAV strategy for selectively labeling PV (or other types) interneurons in any mouse:

there is a "quick and dirty" stainig method, which labels all PV interneurons -and some other fast spiker INs - in rat, mice and human. Together with some morphology and firing properties (or post hoc histology) you will be on the safe side. Alternatively, labeling of perineural nets with WFA might work in some tissues.
