Therapeutic Music therapy shall help in reducing the aggressive behaviour by providing a calm and comfortable environment to the child
It shall help in reducing the repetitive behaviour of the children with spectrum by helping them engage in auditory and visual components of the music they enjoy
It shall help in improving the socialization of the child when it is used as a group activity
Shall help in reducing the restricted nature by helping the child to interact with other during group therapy session
This helps in reducing the problem related to auditory hypersensitivity when the child is exposed to carefully planned music therapy sessions

Music can be a catalyst to help with social communication and emotional regulation. The SCERTS model helps to identify music therapy goals. I used music in the classroom with preverbal autistic sld children. They respond to music as the do to nature and found it calming. There is music available that is very rhythmatic and also teaches body identification through motion. Music is fab way to help children with autism develop.
Music has always has a positive impact on humans. It plays a mollifying agent on an abnormal behaving tendencies such as autism and rectify it to become normal somehow and function properly.
It's main act is in dissociating the person from the abnormal world of existence and keep him/her away from it. If this is applied repeatedly, definitely the behavior will reside and fade away and eventually replaced by the good sense registered in the memory of the patient.
In fact we read testimonials that not only humans that respond to music but other natural living things as well.
I agree with you Eraldo and Dejenie, that music has always a positive impact on humans and can help children to improve their skills.
Nordoff-Robbins uses music therapy to help 100 handicapped children learn and to relate and communicate with others.
Dr. Clive Robbins (Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Clinic): "Almost all children respond to music. Music is an open-sesame, and if you can use it carefully and appropriately, you can reach into that child's potential for development."
According to the link below, there is no substantial evidence that music can help in the treatment of autism either in children or adolescents. In my opinion, the music therapy may function well if the music itself was chosen with due care & proper rhythm. Some music causes tension & some music causes relaxation... therefore, there is more need for high quality research in this topic.
Dr Lawrence Broxmeyer happens to be one a visionary and an outstanding researcher who has written excellent articles which can be found at RG clicking on the links below. He has a intersting writing style, his analyses are innovative and reasonable.
Autism is characterized by delays or abnormal functioning noticed after birth but before the age of three years in one or more of the following domains:
1. Social interaction
2. Communication
3. Restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior
4. There is also a unique form of autism (autistic savantism), where a child displays extraordinary/outstanding skills in music, art, and numbers with no practice
There is no known cure for autism, but some interventions are available.
Music therapy is one of the interventions available. Music activates the body, circulates positive vibrations, giving relief, enhances pleasure, and motivates for communication. Further, music therapy may help to promote wellness by managing stress, enhancing memory, and improving communication.
Alternatively, along with music therapy, intensive, sustained special education programs and behavior therapy early in life can help children acquire self-care, social, and job skills.
Research supports connections between speech and singing, rhythm and motor behavior, memory for song and memory for academic material, and overall ability of preferred music to enhance mood, attention, and behavior to optimize the student’s ability to learn and interact. Therefore, one of the purposes of music therapy for persons with autism is to provide the individual with an initial assist using melodic and rhythmic strategies, followed by fading of musical cues to aid in generalization and transfer to other environments...
