I performed IP injection of mouse cancer cells (GL261, 75.000 cells) in C57bl/6 mice. However, three weeks after, mice started to be moribund and necessitated to be sacrificed. Do you know if the presence of these cancer cells can induce an inflammation or any reaction that could provoke the decline of the mouse health?

Injection of cell preparation that may contain damaged cells or cell materials derived from dead cells into immunocompetent C57BL/6 mice, is likely to induce an inflammatory response within a short period of time (2-3 days). Therefore, it is intriguing that it took a long time to see health effects. Is it possible that the cell preparation was contaminated with other non cell materials?
Normally not, because the preparation was cells maintained previously in culture... so this preparation should be sterile in term of pathogens, I guess!
Did you perform a necropsy of these mice? I am assuming there were probably tumors growing in the peritoneal cavity, such as along the lining of the intestines, which would have reduced survival in your mice
