Yes, it seems to be  totally possible. But, it seems that some methods that you can apply gives you the monomers of the fibers, and in some cases you have to do a long preparation of the sample. I have a document that compares all the types of methods on mesuring fibers and reports the problems or situation you can find. There's just one problem: it's writting in portuguese, because it was published by an important Research Institution on Brazil. If you want I can send to you and help you to translate.
