The digital revolution is a great thing, but sometimes it may also be disturbing when students look at their devices during class.
Doe anyone know any tehnique or app to shut off all devices from te Internet during class? Or does such a thing not exist?
Easy for cutting any Internet access, ensure you enclose the managed space in a Faraday cage, i. e. no electromagnetic wave goes in and none goes out. This is insulation

To note, some students do use cellphones as a learning tool in the classroom, for example to quickly investigate references; they are not necessarily texting, emailing, and checking social media.
Agree Oliver and thanks for your answer. I feel that schools give studente an iPad or chromebook, but hardly know how to use it. Apple and Google get huge markets in this way and the only ones that are laughing are Apple and Google. To get an iPad looks more like a marketing trick for those schools, but how to use it in a proper way....
theoretically we can I suppose. But i prefer to make use of it.
I give out references in mail and discuss n share materials on whatsApp. during the class i use power-point, videos and also ask them to find out any stuff they are unable to answer. may be something not covered in the learning prep and reading material but relevant anyway and has come up during sharing. this way they learn to direct their search and also get to see a more than what was discuss.
Forcing them to shut it off will not work because it can be construed as a limitation of their freedom. I go for a more diplomatic way of explaining that they have their own time to use gadgets and that they paid for the class they are attending so they have to let me do my job (what they paid for) and an essential part of it is total commitment to me during class which is just 3 hours or so a week. This teaches them respect, being courteous, attentive, and make them value their education or what they pay for. Don't get me wrong because I also use internet-based platforms for learning. Just not during my class where I have to share what I know and engage them in meaningful interaction
