I am doing an experiment on lipid peroxidation at the moment. The method I saw online requires the oil to dissolve in chloroform before adding KI so that oil is not emulsified. However, my teacher told me that I couldn't get chloroform in a secondary school. Could someone please tell me if the titration would work without chloroform? If not, is there any alternative method? I deal with olive oil where PV determination is rquired by the EU and IOC law in force.
The method is attached but it asks for chloroform after few years we used iso-octane instead of chloroform. It was because chloroform gets more accurate results compared to those from iso-octane. Anyway, the solvent is a mix of both acetic acid and chloroform (or iso-octane).
Apart from this point, the method is the same.

I am currently using the PV method as well, using chloroform acetic acid solvent. I was trying to find the chemical equation related to peroxides and chloroform and iodines. Is there any link for the same?
