(2000 g, 5 min) to and succeed to sediment Y. lipolytica cells, just that the sediment is "not in the form of compact pellet" to separate effectively from its supernatant by simply by pouring out the supernatant.I had tried to increase the speed and time up to 10000 g and 15 min but the pellet was still not really compact.
The cell I was using is a 1-day old batch culture, with OD around 2. 40 ml cell suspension was aliquoted into a Falcon tube to be centrifuged.
*Does it also be influenced by cell surface properties?

Hi,
You can try to add some %(vol/vol) of a viscous fluid to help precipitate the cells, like glycogen.
