Hi everyone,
I am trying to decide if I can compare nutrient supply rates between two different methods of collection. Method A uses ion exchange membranes and method B uses ion exchange resin in a nylon bag.
Method A resin has an exchange capacity of 1.7 meq/g while method B is 2.3 meq/g.
Method A uses OH- and H+ as ions while method B uses NH4+ and SO3- as counter ions.
My question is: Can these two methods be reasonably compared?

It depends on pH and Ionic strength of your sample before the loading process but also the conditioning steps that you applied to your membrane and resins. Did you obtain similar results after the comparison?
