Can HCl be used instead of H2SO4 for RNA later preparation?

I am preparing RNA later following the patented protocol. It is mentioned there and in other recipes as well to use H2SO4 to balance the pH to 5.2. If H2SO4 is not available, can I use HCL instead of H2SO4? Does it affect the RNA later potential?
