In the "analysis parameter" tab in Fragstats (left panel) you can select "generate patch ID file". This creates a spatial ID file that can be loaded into any GIS. If you are working at the class level, what you need to do is to join your attributes table with the patchID file. Hope this helps, Maria

Dear Kathryn, You must generate an ID file from Fragstat. Following we can open it with ArcGIS. Another way could be create a new field in your DBF file, if you work on shapes (into ArcGIS) and paste the values generated by means of Fragstat, considering also the option to use relate function, selecting the field shared. What ArcGIS you use? 9 or 10?

There is potentially another way : using Patch Analyst, if you have teh Spatial Analyst extension.

Basically, it is Fragstat integrated in ArcGIS, so all inputs and outputs should be directly readable in ArcGIS.

Yes u can

If you use tiles in Fragstats they don't appear to be georeferenced unfortunately.

Generate patch ID file is not an option when using tiles. Has anybody found a solution to this (it would be a very useful feature!).

In case anybody is still interested, I have to correct myself.

In short, the tile number in the result will correspond to the tile number in your grid file (for instance geotiff).

I thank Kevin McGarigal, the author of Fragstats for help with this.

Thanks a lot. I tried these methods you mentioned. After I checked the results in the ArcGIS, I found the class types are different from the original class types, they can't match the tiff file I which used to calculate the landscape metrics.   

Dear Jin,

the value field in geotiff (XXXX) shall match the tile number in the Fragstats results (tile_XXXX). I tried this many times. But each time you will produce the geotiff, the value field will be different so you have to use the geotiff directly in your Fragstats run.
