Economic and political pressure encourages the use of wood biomass to produce "green" energy and mitigate CO2 emissions. While some forests grow on nutrient rich soils and the nutrient supply is enough for increased harvesting to be sustainable, many forests grow on nutrient poor soils and the fertility of the soil would be highly impacted on the short to long term by increased harvesting intensity. Each country has a different view of this social, economic and ecological question. How do you perceive this problem?
