I measure rat hippocampus serotonin level using BT labs ELISA kit. I only grind the tissue using cold PBS, centriguge it, collect the supernatan and then follow the instruction provided by the ELISA kit's manufacturer. Will that procedure measure cytosolic serotonin along with serotonin bind to receptor? Can the procedure release serotonin from the binding receptir? Thank you very much
