Transposable element/ Transposons are one of the main targets of genetic engineering nowadays due to their ability to alter gene expression. My query is whether TE can help plants to cope up with biotic/ abiotic stress?
Hi Abu,
I think, since TEs are involved in in epigenetics and offer the basis for new genes. Therefore it is theoretical possible.
But I would not build up the theory of my phd on this hypothesis without any proof.

there are ample examples of DNA transposons particularly MITEs (miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements) involved in abiotic/biotic stress tolerance.
