Given that the DNA barcoding is not an effective tool to delineate interspecific divergence but intraspecific divergence between coral species (Shearer and Koffroth,2008), how accurate is the species level identification of corals based on DNA barcoding along with morphological identifications.
I know that the 'Target capture bait set' approach is highly efficient in delineating corals with very close relatedness, specially the Family Acroporidae (Cowman et al,. 2020)
That being said, can you state new records of coral species were identified (let's assume 5new records of Acropora corals in the vicinity of local waters) based on the DNA barcoding results?

Sir, following are the publications that might help you in this regard.
1. "Identification of Scleractinian Coral Recruits Using Fluorescent Censusing and DNA Barcoding Techniques." In this paper, DNA barcoding has been used for identification of coral recruits.
2. "Using DNA Barcoding Technique to Identify Some Scleractinian Coral Species along the Egyptian Coast of the Red Sea and Southern of Arabian Gulf." This paper describes the same from adult colonies. The paper also mentions the issues that arise because of the presence of zooxanthellae in the coral tissue.

Thank you for your answer. In the first paper you shared it says that DNA barcoding using COI gene can only resolve upto genus level. And the authors had used a combination of 3 molecular markers; COI,PaxC,ORF to identify coral recruits to the Genus level but not to species level ( exception was Stylophora).
The paper you shared second is not an indexed journal paper and it's credibility is highly doubtful.
Actually in my original question I wanted to know whether DNA barcoding using COI molecular marker alone can resolve species level identification in scleractinian corals. Thus the literature you listed is supporting against the use DNA barcoding in species level delineation!!
