Bacteriophages appear to be able to cross epithelial cells by transcytosis and tissues injures. I'm curious if is there any literature of phages crossing cell tight junctions without the "assist" of an inflammatory process.

I don't have direct experience with bacteriophage, but given their size I'd expect TJ leakage to be of very low frequency, which is assumed with many of the exptl approaches screening phage libraries in cultured endothelial & epthithelial barriers.
