Even colonies of B. cepacia appears pink on MacConkey agar due to extended incubation period. The pH indicator of the medium responses to acidity from any other source, not only carbohydrate fermentation reactions.

It is correct, this bacterium is lactose negative and its colonies are observed pinkish rugose colonies on MacConkey's agar. Its color is possibly due to the an intrinsic pigment production and may vary due to phenotypic switching.
