I have relied on Art Carpenter's Complete Guide to the SAS Macro Language. It's thorough, but I think has lots of basics and examples. You could pick it up as a beginner. There are also introductory courses offered at local SAS conferences (such as the one in November held in Vegas). But the book is much cheaper!
