Actually, I have deposited some polymer films on Si/SiO2 wafers and I want to pyrolyze this films. I need very high temperature pyrolyzation for these films, up to 3000 C. I want some other high temperature sustainable substrate on which I can deposited the polymer thin films.
You can use Tungsten (W) or Graphite plates as substrate, I am sure it will fulfill your requirements. Its (W) melting point around 3422* C. You can use SiC also as substrate, Beside some oxide such as Al2O3 can resist at high temperatures.
I would suggest using Tungsten substrate, but it also depends on how are you going to heat them. I am curious to know why are you looking for such a high temperature (3000*C) to pyrolyze a polymer. I believe you will be using an induction furnace for the pyrolysis experiments, my friend earlier used graphite crucibles but we found there is carbon emission from the crucibles when treated with 3000*C. It all depends on under what conditions you want to go up to 3000°C. I guess you will be hard pressed to find any substrate that withstands 3000°C under oxidating conditions. If you are hoping to get highly ordered graphite at these temperatures or any other sort of order carbon phase, than you will have to do this in to steps: first pyrolize at lower temperatures and than use a graphite substrate for going up to 3000°C. As has been said before must refractories with high melting points may form carbides or may desolve the carbon you provide so graphite is most likely to most viable solution.
