I am involved in Energy Harvesting using Smart Structures .As a start-up I am extracting electrical response from PZT (Lead Zirconate Titanate) material subjected to a cantilever action.Now I have an idea of PZT paint/PZT material attached to turbine blades as they are subjected to vibration.IS there a software to analyse the effect of PZT on the turbine flow and turbine stress?How can we include the properties of PZT in Ansys ?? Help me out Guys!!!!!!

Ansys has the piezo effects in the multyphisics analysis. However I want to ask you a couple of questions that you might not have tought yet:
1) What is the temperature of the blades? Piezo cannot go beyond the curie temperature (~ 300 C depending on material)
2) The ammount of current you get from piezoes is in the range of microamps depending also on the size of the piezo. If you paint a blade you might have a large surface but is hard to go to probably milliamps which are requested by sensors (minimum is approx 60 mA).. Is this enough power for you?

Its just a hunch I'm looking for.My main motto is to extract energy from Piezo and use it productively on on board itself.If u have any ideas about placing a Piezo please do share sir...Thank YOU

ABAQUS also has the piezo effect analysis module. Just use brick elements with additional 'electric potential' d.o.f. like e.g. C3D20E ones.
