For my project, I want to analyse the bacterial community composition of anal swabs from seals. Thus, I'm searching a reliable service provider for both the library preparation as well as 16s sequencing in Europe.
It would be great if someone has any experiences and could share them!
My own experience is that you need to acquire a thorough understanding of high-throughput sequencing, including the various tricks that are used to get the maximum data out of a sequencing run, before ordering sequencing services. It is quite easy to end up with several terabytes of incomprehensible data. The companies we have worked with seem to know a lot about running sequencing instruments, but are not so strong on advising inexperienced customers on the best sequencing strategies.
That said, I've only been involved in this kind of work for about three years, so I'm very much a beginner.
