AMPK has a lot of phosphorylation sites: Ser96, Ser101, Ser108, Thr172, Thr258, and Ser485. Which one would be better at reflecting an increase of its activity towards the protein tau? Is there a good antibody to examine this phospho-AMPK in mice brains?
AMPK is activated by phosphorylation. Further, an increase in p-AMPK (Thr172) levels is an acceptable measure to follow the AMPK activation. An antibody from Cell Signaling Technology (#2531) works very good (see the link below) in human and mouse samples.

we are using Cell Signaling Technology (#2535) for p-AMPK and #5232 for total AMPK. Both Abs are very good for mouse brain samples; you need to load only 2 ug protein/lane.
