I am trying to model a wire mesh in abaqus. I have modeled it with 1mm circular cylinder. I want to give a tie constraint to the perpendicular wires. I am unable to find it in "find contact pairs" When I manually assigned it a tie constraint I am getting an error. Can anyone please help me with it. I am attaching an image of it.

Since their contact is at only one point, when you manually creating contact you should select one node on each wire (nodes should be the ones which are touching or are the closes ones to each other) and then create bonding contact.
You can use wire elements by assigning beam or truss sections for your model. Then, if they go through the same nodes, you won't need to create contact between wires. This might be a simple way.
On the other hand, if you want to create a contact, you should form contact surfaces (maybe from mesh surfaces) properly. Then, you can use tie contact or contact pairs.
I am an advocate of all kinds of geomeric simplifications in finite element models. The creation of contacts in this problem, in my opinion, is a dead-end direction. The creation of contact pairs translates any linear problem of elasticity theory into a non-linear one, dramatically increasing the amount of computation. When there are many of these contacts, then even a simple problem will turn into a problem for a supercomputer for a week or more.
Simply connect the crossing rods in pairs by vertical cylinders.

You don’t understand me at all if you ask about surfaces. When you connect both intersecting rods with an auxiliary volume (for example, a cylinder or a ball), where do you get the interacting surfaces?

I understood it, sir. To these rods, I need to connect a solid surface like shown in the figure. To these, I need to create an interaction property i.e. friction coefficient between the rods and solid surface. As per your suggestion, I need to create vertical cylinders at the bottom of the rod, so that I can create interaction between the two faces. Is that right sir?
If I do so will it give me original behavior?
