Could anyone suggest what the refractive index and viscosity value should be for DMEM cell culture media and PBS buffer at 25 C. This is required for measuring zeta potential and particle size analysis for a nanoparticle solution.
There are data available for most pure solvents and buffers, but in this particular case I think it would be best for you to measure these characteristics by yourself with a viscosimeter and refractometer.
Could you provide information on the wavelenght of the light source in DLS. Normally DLS uses red color (633 nm) which will cause lot of scattering in cell culture media as the solution is also red in color. So even if you find refractive index and viscocity, chances are you will get some gibbersish data.
Indeed the red color of the medium could be a problem. But since this color comes from a pH indicator, I think that medium without this indicator could be prepared for the purpose of DLS measurements.
