I want to use crude glycerol from biodiesel plant waste as plasticizer for chitosan edible films. First i want to know how much % purity from my crude glycerol because it contains methanol, soap, salt, and water. what is the best methods for my problem?

1. You can asked the company for certificate of analysis of the crude glycerol
2. You can perform glycerol content analysis on the crude glycerol
As you will be producing edible materials, then you need to verify the legal and safety regulations concerning such things at your country.

If you want to check the content of crude glycerol, you can apply my method. This analysis method is used for the free and total glycerol determination in biodiesel.
However, I think that your sample has a high the crude glycerol content due to from glycerol phase in biodiesel production plant. Therefore, you should use a small weight of sample for analysis and titration process.
