I mean suppose you are developing say for example an IEEE 34 bus system in Matlab Simulink software and obtain the results of fault analysis for example.
Then what is the need to go for real-time simulation software like RTDS, etc. Since RTDS is not actual live power system bus network.
So software simulations can be considered to be sufficient.
I need some clarification here.
In one point of view both MATLAB and RSCAD are simulation softwares. But, RTDS offers testing of the development of control hardware and power hardware (eg. protection relays) with real-time simulations of the power system. Also, when it comes to modular high power multilevel power electronics converters, RTDS gives the opportunity to develop detailed models that is necessary to study the converter level and power system interactions.

When you propose a new method, you should validate it at least by one method. You can compare it with the previously-reported works, verify by experimental tests or verified by real-time simulation.
