it is very easy to apply displ. please follow the steps:

1- in assemply create set and select the node you want apply displacment.

2- in amplitude creat ampl-1 (Tabular or smooth then select total time)

3- create ampl-2

4- create ampl-3

5- create ampl-4

15  15

20  20

2- in steps create step 1 as for example static general

set time period 5

in BC apply displacement at set node you created and in the desired direction (e.g. u2=-1)

you creat step 2 and repeat what you did in step-1

and so on

please tell us what kind of model you are using (2d or 3D). cause each model need especial care of appling displacement

You should simple create 4 time steps. In the first one you create the load. Then in the load window, you click on the second cell (corresponding to the value of the load at the second time step), and "modify" it.

You should get something like

Name       Step 1              Step 2               Step 3               Step 4

Load1        Created         Modified           Modified            Modified

Error message (1 nodes have dof on which velocity/displacement/acceleration/base motion etc. constraints are specified simultaneously. The nodes have been identified in node set ErrNodeBCRedundantDof) Appears when u have defined two different boundary condition simultaneously at same point .so Check your BC

Hey, It's quite too late for the responce i just got the error and here was the solution.

In the initial step, i applied the initial boundry condition, then in first step, in the one cyclic protocol i applied the half cycle while in the another cyclic protocol i applied another amplitude and i deactivated the displacement boundry condition of first step in the another step which was suppost to be occured after the second step. I hope those who are facing this error will solve it like this :) Good luck with ABAQUS.
