I am currently looking to prepare hippuric acid assay and looked everywhere for anti-HA antibodies but couldn't find them anywhere. I did come across a HA Tag Monoclonal Antibody with the secondary antibody being HRP-conjugated. I was wondering if this could be used instead of a primary antibody?
Hello Varun, using HA tag polyclonal antibody-HRP or HA tag monoclonal antibody-HRP can be a great substitute. However, since you have only the HA tag monoclonal antibody unconjugated to HRP, then you can go ahead with the secondary which has HRP conjugated. You should achieve similar results, unless your interest is in the conformational variabilities of these proteins. The reason been that tags mostly can impact on the conformation of the molecule however the overall functionality usually is maintained.
