I am trying to make a statistical analysis on the cross correlation between EC vs TDS, and ionic cross correlation with scatter diagrams in Na vs Cl, Ca vs SO4, and Mg vs SO4. In one analysis that I made with only 10 samples of EC vs TDS, the r value or degree of association is nice and looks valid, which is only 0.92. However, in the other data, in which it consists of around 35 samples, the r value reaches as high as 3.71 which I highly doubted and has been looking for many explanations why I would think it's not plausible. As many examples I have seen have shown well below 1. The formula I used for finding the degree of association is this : http://www.bmj.com/about-bmj/resources-readers/publications/statistics-square-one/11-correlation-and-regression . I also attached the file.
