UWSN is not very different that any other WSN researcher field. You can star by install a common simulation tools like NS2, OMNET++, AquaSim, NS3 and so on. The second step is to reproduce a routing scenario and evaluate routing performance. As an example of the implementation of UWSN in NS2, you can download the following source code:
