protein carbonyls are oxidative stress markers. after following a specific procedure for estimating the change in the activity of protein carbonyls the process of calculating their concentration has to be known
There are several commercial kits available for quantitation of protein carbonyls, for example Protein Carbonyl Content Assay Kit (ab126287) from Abcam; there is also a kit from Sigma.
You can do it without commercial kits. Here is a recent overview how to do that:
Determination of protein carbonyls in plasma, cell extracts, tissue homogenates, isolated proteins: Focus on sample preparation and derivatization conditions.Weber D, Davies MJ, Grune T.Redox Biol. 2015 Aug;5:367-80. doi: 10.1016/j.redox.2015.06.005. Epub 2015 Jun 18. Review.
you can follow the protocol which describe by Tsiplakou et al 2017 (DOI 10.1111/jpn.12741) after you measure the absorbance as described you should do: abs x 45,45=nmol/ml PC and then the above/bradford value mg protein/ml so you will have estimate nmol Protein Carbonyls per mg of protein of your sample
