Dear colleagues, around 30 years ago I read a paper in which the boundary condition at the edge of a slab was not formulated properly. According to me, the slabs should move away from each other. Moreover, I was told by the author that you need a line load in ILLISlAB to avoid this movement. It sounds weird but I read also a paper by Barendregt in which relation (based on ILLISLAB calculations) was given between the bending stress and the deflection and this relation was not a pure straight line as analytical proofed by the late Frans van Cauwelaert but showed a curvature at the origin. I don’t have the program ILLISLAB so I couldn’t verify my suspension. So, has anyone of you the ILLISLAB program, and can he/she check the boundary conditions. Of course, I can be wrong with my suspension but I’m anxious to know the result.

Looking forwards to your reactions,

Regards
