the author has not clearly explained the treatment on biofilm forming.
Do we treat our bacteria before biofilm formation or after ? The above article claims to treat the biofilms in the washing buffer (sodium phosphate ) with different concentration of the target (in their case lysozime) by adding TSB.
The paragraph says the following:
Analysis of lysozyme effect on biofilm formation. Effect of lysozyme on biofilm forming capacities of microorganisms that previously formed biofilm in the absence of the enzyme was analyzed using the aforementioned TTM. Strains were treated as before in the presence of various concentrations of the lysozyme of egg albumen (Lysozyme Manufacturing Company B.V.) reconstituted in sodium phosphate buffer (0.2 M, pH 7.0). The initial concentration of lysozyme in the sodium phosphate buffer was 70 mg/ml and was adjusted to the desired concentration by adding TSB. Tested concentrations were 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 mg/ml.

I think so that we should add the Inhibitors (Lysozyme) in different concentration before biofilm formation because biofilm formation undergoes different stages i-e early adsorption, formation of microcolonies by secreting EPS, and biofilm maturation. so we should apply before and examine after different time of intervals.
It is well known that when biofilm form then bacteria became more resistant to disinfectant or other chemicals. So, its better to control bacteria before biofilm formation. Through biofilm formation, bacteria shows pathogenecity as well as QS activity.
However, if biofilm formed than we need to take action for controlling it. When biofilm get matured, it detaches biofilm cells to the environment. So, now-a-days, researchers are focusing to treat biofilm (mono/mixed) in various ways.
In this article, author did lysozyme treatment on preformed biofilm. They used sodium phosphate buffer (0.2 M, pH 7.0) for washing unbound (free/planktonic) bacteria not biofilm. (I used phosphate buffer saline for washing steps).
Authors aim was straightforward which they mentioned in the very beginning of the study '' Two basic questions about lysozyme activities on the selected microorganisms were investigated, namely whether lysozyme inhibits biofilm production and which concentrations of the enzyme have the ability to change the natural biofilm producing capacity of different strains of Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin sensitive and resistant), Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Gardnerella vaginalis."
