Basic required knowledge (including softwars) for SLM/EBM modelling???

I am interested in working in the above discussed subject i.e. Modelling & Simulation of AM (SLM, EBM etc. specially). Could anyone plz help me in guiding that what basic knowledge and of which softwares i should grasp for the same?
