My study population can have either or both reactive and fasting hypoglycemia for different founder variant genetic causes. I want to use the onset of symptoms to separate and determine the associated hypoglycemia with individual variants.

- The paper, "Postprandial Reactive Hypoglycemia" published by Altuntaş Y. defines 2-5 hour post-meal.

- Mongraw-Chaffin et al., ("Hypoglycemic symptoms in the absence of diabetes...") also found the average time between meal and symptom onset was 4.4 hr

- Elghobashy et al., (Investigation and Causes of Spontaneous (Non-Diabetic) Hypoglycaemia) also define 2 - 4 hours after a meal.

I have a hard deciding whether I should put the cut-off at 4 hours or 5 hours. Can anyone provide any insight?

Sincerely,

Steven
