Hello, How can i can hydrogen isotpes in Aspen plus ? Isotopes have same chemical formula but different atomic weight. so all isotopes in Aspen plus will have same H-H structure.
In Aspen Hysys it's easy that i create hypothetical components and enter information like critical temperature, critical pressure and critical volume, density and eccentric factor. then click on estimate properties.
How can i do the same thing in Aspen plus ? Like where is the option to enter all the critical parameters for estimation ? Under user defined it does not ask for same parameters.
Any input will be appreciated.

I assume that you're speaking of deuterium and tritium. Both of these are available in Aspen Plus. I don't think you're speaking about the more exotic, synthesized forms like hydrogen-4, or hydrogen-7, which have half-lives of ~10^(-22) sec.

Yes i am talking about both gaseous and oxides of H,D,T.
There are 12 in total
Gaseous : H2,D2,T2,HD,HT,DT
Oxides : H2O, D2O, T2O, HDO, HTO, DTO
Not all 12 are present in aspen plus. Except H2, D2, H2O and D2O all others have missing properties and need critical parameters (i.e. critical pressure, temperature and volume. Please see attached pics) to estimate parameters like pressures and other critical information required for equilibrium and separation studies. I am not sure how to create them in Aspen Plus (I can do in Aspen Hysys but would like to use aspen plus). I do know it has been done by some folks in South Korea but what I am struggling to find out where are the options to create the components using critical properties and estimate rest of the thermo-physical properties. Please see the attached pics and it may clarify what i am trying to ask.

You must be much more careful about your specifications. In your pure property method, you specify you want liquid phase heat capacities at ambient pressure for temperatures starting at 0C. The critical temperatures of both deuterium and tritium are approximately 38K !! (-235.15C !!). Above the critical temperature, there is no liquid phase.
If you were to use, instead, the PT envelope tool for properties, and you were to specify an EOS like Peng-Robinson instead of ideal, and you were to specify a property set to calculate the liquid phase molar heat capacity of a substance, then you would find that everything works fine for deuterium; tritium is still missing parameters. If all you want to do is estimate parameters, then make the appropriate selection under the Estimation folder in the navigation tree.
Unfortunately, I'm using v11, which is not backwards compatible with v10, which you are using.
You can also google information for both isotopes...lots available. I've attached one example.

Hi, I am working on the same problem with a group of 4th year students, Did you try the property estimation facility? It needs the molecular structure of each pair of the atoms in the molecular isotopes.
Did you have a look on the paper: Estimation of thermodynamic properties of hydrogen isotopes and modeling of hydrogen isotope systems using Aspen Plus simulator.
I tried to reproduce it, but I don't know how to introduce the Twu alpha function which is mentioned in the paper.
Please let me know if you get a method to solve this problem.
