I use journal files for fluent in HPC especially for using UDF.
When I create case using desktop fluent with UDF and then try to run in HPC, it ended in error during partitioning. Since I had two mesh and 4 udfs, I think there might be difficult to modelling.
One more reason I go for journal file for the adjustment in solution controls in HPC. I initially start the simulation with reduced URF and first order schemes and after few iterations I gradually increase to the default URF and second order. If I create a case file in desktop PC and then run in HPC, it will be difficult to update once the solution is completed and wait for next queue. Hence I will write journal file in such a manner, after few iterations increase the URF and change to second order scheme.
