It is a truth universally acknowledged that land consists of 30% of the earth's surface, while sea occupies the rest of the surface. Paradoxically, there has been a huge increase in the number of vessels traversing the seas around the globe. An estimated 300000 vessels are currently in circulation. They generate a significant amount of air pollution due to the tyep of fuel they use. A container vessel for example can generate more pollution than 1000s of cars. How are we inhabitants of land affected?
