I am very new at culturing IPSCs. Lately, I have noticed some artifacts in my wells after the cells are incubated in mTesR Plus media for a day. Some of them are attached to the Matrigel coating and some of them are floating. Once I change the media both the floating and the attached cells are gone. Please see attached photos. I have also attached a higher magnification photo hoping it will help with identification. I also observe some floating, rounded up colonies in the media but I don't have a photo of that.
It looks like cells are growing fine without any significant problems.
Do you think these are detached cells/ cell debris or some sort of contamination?

I would test for mycoplasma contamination to be on the safe side.

It looks like your colonies are pretty well, despite the floating cells. As Marie Caroline Demmler said, I would suggest firstly a test for mycoplasma.
But.. I have a question: do you see these "debris"/floating cells everyday, before every change of medium? Those "chains" of cells look like a yeast contamination..

Hi Martina Lorenzati yes i see them everyday before media change. However they are not in chains. They are single.
Marie Caroline Demmler I am using a very similar procol but coating wells with Matrigel, feeding cells mTesR plus and passaging with Versene.
